About the department –

The Physics department is housed in an independent building The B.Sc. classes are held on the ground floor while the upper floor has the laboratories. The ground floor also has one workshop, one research laboratory, one museum of equipments, departmental library and the common room along with two big lecture halls. There is a small observatory on the first floor. The library contains large number of books for different classes. The Post graduate department of Physics functions from this building itself. The laboratory is well equipped for classes and research work.

The mission is to promote interest, participation and commitment in physics to support and involve students and researchers for acquiring global competence and shaping up their careers, prioritizing research on interdisciplinary areas, helping students to develop integrity and objectivity and work with rigor to contribute towards national development, Ensuring holistic development of the students so that they become responsible citizens, helping the underprivileged community developing compassion for nature, concern for the environment and conservation of energy and to promote scientific culture across the society.

Vision of the Department/College:

The vision of the department is to address the new and emerging areas of knowledge of theoretical as well as experimental Physics in order to further the understanding of the physical world and its application for scientific, economic and social benefit disseminate this understanding among the new generation students.
