Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti, 2024

On 15.04.2024, IQAC, Patna Law College organised a programme to commemorate and celebrate Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti, 2024 at 10:00 am at its Seminar hall, Satabdi Bhawan.

The Chief Guest of the function was

Sri Nand Kishore Yadav, hon’ble Speaker, Bihar Legislative Assembly while the Special Guests were Prof. (Dr.) Girish Kumar Choudhary, Chairman, BSUSC; Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar, Dean, Students Welfare, PU; and Prof. (Dr.) Birender Kumar, Director, IQAC, PU. The programme, which was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) K. C. Sinha, Vice Chancellor, PU and hosted by Mrs. Ruchi Singh, Assistant Professor (Sr.), Patna Law College, commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, followed by a floral tribute to the Bharat Ratna. The guests were then felicitated with a shawl and a flower pot. Thereafter, our respected guests were welcomed by Prof. (Dr.) Vani Bhushan, Principal, Patna Law College. Prof. (Dr.) Birender Kumar and Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar addressed the academic gathering and emphasized upon the vision of Dr. Ambedkar of a just and equitable society. Prof. (Dr.) Girish Kumar Choudhary remarked that against all odds, Dr. Ambedkar rose to the top and that makes his personality most special and something to cherish forever. Sri Nand Kishore Yadav emphasised upon the multifaceted talent of Dr. Ambedkar and held that not only was he a great social reformer, promoter of equality and emancipator of the practice of untouchability, he played important role in the establishment of RBI, improvement of conditions of labourers including reduction of working hours from 14 hrs to 8 hrs, codifications of Hindu laws, enactment of maternity laws etc. He further held that if the vision of the great man is followed honestly, India will definitely become a ‘Vishwaguru’ by 2047. Prof. (Dr.) K. C. Sinha was of the view that Dr. Ambedkar is a treasure not only for India but for the entire mankind. He also reiterated that he may have lost elections in 1952 and 1954, but his greatness was recognised later on and his ideas have and are still playing an important role in the creation of ‘Vikshit Bharat’. After the address by the respected guests, the winners of the intra-university free speech competition organised on the occasion of Mahatma Phule Jayanti, 2024 on 09.04.2024 were felicitated by them. The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Salim Jawed, Assistant Professor (Sr.), Patna Law College.
